چکیده

Introduction: The multi-valued logic (MVL) is an alternative to common binary logic. The arithmetic operations can be performed more efficiently, and faster, by increasing the radix of the system or the number of levels used, at the expense of reduced noise margin. Thus, it suffers from noise and parameter variations. Since the variations at each stage are added up, it is unavoidable to restore the tabulated levels after a certain number of stages, unless the gates are self restored types [1]. In this Letter a new full-current-mode CMOS-MVL restoration circuit is presented. In an MVL system, the radix, r, corresponds to the number of discrete values or number of possible signal levels. In current mode, levels are represented by current levels in terms of a base current, Ib. The base current is set to 10 mA for this study. Thus, MVL variable x1⁄4 0 is associated with the current value, l0, of null, x1⁄4 1 is associated with l11⁄4 Ib1⁄4 10 mA and so on. However, in the circuits, a logic current level, l, actually corresponds to an interval of the continuous quantity y, such that

Level Restoration for Multi-valued Logic Circuits

Compared to binary logic, the multi-valued logic circuits provide very small chip size, higher speed, and small number of interconnections and simpler realization of logic functions. However, the main drawback of these circuits is the lower noise margin. The noise margin decreases as the radix of multi-valued system increases. Due to the low noise margins, it is necessary to restore or recover ...

Implementation of Multi-Valued Logic Gates Using Full Current-Mode CMOS Circuits

In this paper, a novel multi-valued logic gate set is designed by using only current-mode CMOS circuits. The gate set consists of min, max, inverter, literal, and cyclic operators based on a current-mode, versatile, novel threshold topology. They are shown to exhibit better static and dynamic behavior and consume less area compared to previous MVL design topologies and binary-logic counterparts...

A Proposal for the Implementation of Ternary Digital Circuits - Microelectronics, 1995. Proceedings., 1995 20th International Conference on

A nonclassical multi-valued logic based on Post algebra is presented. Besides the conventional Post's cyclic negation, this nonclassical logic algebra defines new operators that simplify the truth-table minimization techniques. An electronic implementation of this algebra for a 3-level logic is proposed. Electronics gates of Post negation and the new operators were designed and simulated using ...
